Unpopular rules
The missus and I were sitting under a giant sign for $1 frozen yogurt at Ikea, and we started to talk about unpopular rules--unlike, say, keeping your seatbelt fastened until the plane comes to a complete stop, the kind almost nobody thinks is reasonable. (I'm actually with the airlines on this one, but the symphony of clicks I hear upon touchdown suggests I'm in the minority.)
Anyway, here are our three; looking for more in the comments section.

The rule about window shades having to be open all the way for landing mystifies me. I can't imagine that I'm actually any safer because I can see the cold hard ground rushing up to greet me.
I might consider "Keep Away From Children" an unpopular rule, but it might be better classified as a popular rule for unpopular children.
Mike, this is an excellent question, and it's something I've wondered many times. Here's what I found; please any pilots (hint hint, dear brother-in-law) chime in:
Question: Why do we have to pull up window's shutters before landing? —Jonathan Ly, Mansfield, Ohio
Answer: The raising of your window shades for both takeoff and landing has to do with evacuation procedures. Should an evacuation become necessary, flight attendants need to be able to assess outside conditions so they don't send passengers into undesirable conditions.
The speed limit (at least sometimes:-)
I like to think I am going with the flow of traffic.
Is the seatbelt rule because of all those "incursions" I keep hearing about? I wish we lived in an incursion-free world and could un-click the belts as soon as the plane was going under 50 mph. I feel such relief upon landing anyway that un-clicking is sort of a symbolic move. Unclench!
