The first episode of Ricky Gervais' podcast is available. I've never listened to a podcast before (why aren't they just called "really long MP3s"?), and this seems like a good way to try them out.

yes, podcast is a stupid name, but "really long mp3" is not an adequate description. a "podcast" is not just the file, but the automated delivery/subscription service as well. broadcastatic has been available as a podcast for quite soome time now.

A podcast is basically an RSS feed with an enclosure file that is usually an mp3 file, but it can be any variety of audio or video file.
Here is a link that will open the Ricky Gervais show podcast directly in itunes. If you subscribe you will get new episodes automatically as soon as they are posted.

It's not just in the dictionary, it's the "Word of the Year" according to the Oxford American Dictionary.
